The long version
I’m a gal with a Nikon, an insatiable hunger for music, and a penchant for deconstructing song lyrics. My lovely piano (made in Indiana) deserves an owner who can really play, but instead it’s got me. By day, I write about wild things and wild places. But I’m more of a nocturnal creature whose natural habitat is clubs and bars where there’s live music.
One of my favorite contemporary novelists, Haruki Murakami, puts it beautifully: “Music brings a warm glow to my vision, thawing mind and muscle from their endless wintering.” The collective joy at a concert is so potent that I feel compelled to capture it in words and images so I can remind myself that it was real.
Thank you for reading and listening along.
